Girona, located in Catalonia, Spain, sits between Barcelona and the Costa Brava. It’s a gorgeous place to visit, with medieval walls, narrow winding city streets, and one of the best-preserved Jewish Quarters in Europe. It has been the location for Game of Thrones, and is home to numerous Michelin Star Restaurants, including El Cellar De Can Roca, voted best restaurant in the World.  Spectacular seaside spots such as Aiguablava and L’escala are under an hour away, as well as historic towns such as Besalū and Figueres, home to Salvador Dali.

Various pro-cyclists and triathletes call Girona home.  The area provides excellent road and gravel routes, and you are sure to encounter a world champion or two on your rides.  Banyoles Lake is close by, with swimming and training facilities. 

Girona is well positioned to explore more of Europe. France is a short drive away, and other cities such as Madrid an easy fast train connection away. A fast train connects you from Barcelona in under 40 minutes, and the local airport is a seasonal hub to various large European cities.
